Japan Mongolia Friendship Hospital Opens in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

In the year commemorating 40th anniversary of diplomatic relationship between Mongolia and Japan, Dr. Oyunchimeg, the chapter chairperson of AMDA Mongolia, opened Japan Mongolia Friendship Hospital on August 26th. Twelve long years after its conception, the hospital with 30 beds now stands tall and proud in Dambardarjaa in Ulaanbaatar, with departments of internal medicine, ophthalmology, dentistry, pediatrics and gynecology. Local people involved and AMSA Mongolia members attended the opening ceremony. Matoquin was performed and the songs were sung to add grace to the ceremony.

Dr. Oyunchimeg said that the secret of success is to start something, and by starting it, half of your success has already been achieved. She also expressed her desire to contribute to the health issues of the area where the majority of the residents are the elderly.

Dr. Shigeru Suganami, the president of AMDA, addressed in his speech that the role of Japan Mongolia Friendship Hospital should be to take up as a disaster center hospital, to act as an educational institute for the next generation, and to promote friendship between Japan and Mongolia, so that the spirit of "sogo-fujo" will be realized in Mongolia.

Furthermore at the ceremony, a sister hospital cooperation agreement was concluded between Japan Mongolia Friendship Hospital and Takasugi Children's Clinic in Soja, Okayama.
